Frequently Asked Questions

General

How do I book?
For most sessions (the one hour family or business session), you can book online with a $200 deposit, then I’ll be in touch to chat and lock in the details. The balance is due 48 hours before your shoot (or cash on the day with agreement). For longer sessions, or the Starter business session - shoot me a message and we can work out details directly. There may be some instances after booking online we may need to tweak the time slightly (unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a booking system that caters to travel times in different locations!), but it's unlikely, and if it happens we can work together to find what suits best.

How long until I get my photos?
Your private online gallery arrives within 2-3 weeks. I can offer a sneak peek (3-5 photos) within 24 hours upon request.

Do you travel outside Baw Baw and the Latrobe Valley?
Yes. Shoot me a message and we will discuss whether any additional travel fees will apply. Also available for interstate and overseas assignments if it feels aligned and expenses are covered!

What happens if it rains?
If the weather isn’t on our side, I'll be in touch to change the location or postpone to another date. The weather can change at the last minute so we will communicate on the morning of the session and I may not make a call until close to your session time. If we're unable to proceed due to bad weather, our session will be rescheduled.

Do I have to allow my photos to be shared on socials/your website?
No. It is completely your choice if you allow me to share images from your session online in any way, shape or form. I choose not to share my children online generally speaking, and completely respect your decision to do the same! Just make sure you let me know when booking (I will usually double check with you before sharing anything anyway)

Can I order prints, frames or albums?
Stay tuned - this is coming soon!

Business & Branding

Do you photograph small businesses in Gippsland?
Yes. I work with small business owners across Baw Baw and the Latrobe Valley, including Warragul, Drouin, Yarragon, Trafalgar, Moe, Morwell and Traralgon (and surroundings), creating brand photos for websites, socials, printed marketing material and launches.

I hate being photographed. Can you still help?
Absolutely. I grew up with a mum who refused to be in any photos for my entire childhood, and recently worked with her to get some photos for her business. I know how much it can bring up insecurities and self doubts. Sessions are low demand, we'll start with a chat so you know what to expect and I'll guide you. It can be easier if you have things to do - this is where the longer sessions are great. For example, practitioners; you can demo a session with a client, makers; you can get creative! Show me what you do, focus on that and I'll work around it. If you're really uncomfortable in front of the camera - I can also guide you through a short meditation to help relax your body and get you in the zone. Or we can even focus on getting more photos with you in the peripherals, blurred etc - so you're in the photos, but you don't cringe every time you go to share on your socials. Lots to think about, and I can work with you to what feels comfortable so you can still showcase your brand and business without going too far out of your comfort zone.

Can I use the photos on my website and social media?
Yes. Business sessions include a commercial licence to use your images to promote your business.

Do you photograph products?
Yes. Products can be added to any brand session. Depending on the number of products and the desired aesthetic - there may be an additional cost, (e.g. 50 different candles needing to be photographed separately) but generally speaking it's all included in the packages. Message me if you're unsure or want to discuss further.

Family & Newborn

Where do family sessions take place?
Usually at your home or a favourite local spot, wherever your family feels most at ease. I can suggest somewhere close by if you don't have anything that comes to mind. The world is our oyster! Having said that - I recommend staying away from playgrounds unless you want your kids climbing colourful equipment in all your photos!

What if my kids won’t cooperate?
That’s completely normal, I have zero expectations of kids and cooperation is optional. Sessions are child-led, with no pressure to pose or perform. If a child doesn't want to be photographed - I will respect that and not attempt to entice or coax them into it. I have had several sessions where a young person doesn't want to participate initially, but we continue with the session and let them join in if they'd like to. If they're open to it, often sitting with them and letting them show me their favourite toys and activities is enough for them to join in for a few (or lots!) of the photos. If you are particularly concerned - the longer "Story" session is designed to have lots of space and time to allow children to warm up to the idea of there being a stranger in their home with a camera!

Do you offer newborn photography at home?
Yes. Newborn sessions are relaxed and in-home, at your baby’s pace. Get in touch with your due date and we’ll plan from there. Important note: YOU ARE NOT EXPECTED TO HAVE A CLEAN HOUSE WHEN YOU HAVE A NEWBORN 😆 As long as you have a window with natural light, we'll get some beautiful photos!

Are your sessions suitable for neurodivergent and/or high needs kids?
Yes. Every family is welcome. I am a solo mum to three pretty sensitive and neurospicy children and get it. Because I come with no expectations and low demands, parents usually find the session goes much smoother than anticipated. This may mean you need to let go of the expected 'everyone-sitting-still-and-smiling' photos, but trust we will capture them and their own magic instead! If you are concerned - reach out to have a chat, or book one of the story sessions to give extra time, breaks and space for your family.
